I'm Keen-Wei, also known as Dr Hui. I have been a medical doctor, working for the NHS for more than 20 years and most of it, as a General Practitioner (GP) .
I chose to be a GP not only to treat disease but primarily to educate patients about how to keep well and prevent disease, as between 70%-80% of primary care visits are related to stress and lifestyle factors. However in NHS GP consultations, there just is not enough time for education on health, explaining the cause of the disease and addressing the root cause of the problem.
The way we currently practice Medicine in the western world is to focus on the disease and medications are offered as the main treatment, with lifestyle modifications overlooked.
In 2018, I was introduced to the discipline of Lifestyle Medicine and have since become a certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician, and I have not looked back since. Along the way I have used the knowledge to make adjustments in my own life.
Lifestyle Medicine takes a holistic approach to health, it is fully evidence based and I have been using this insight to support my patients to to make significant improvements in their health.
